READ

John 16:31-33
31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

REFLECT

We started this week with these verses and are ending the week with them.  As Christians, we should expect tension with our “unbelieving world” because this world is not aligned with Christ and His good news.  But, we have a relationship with Christ and that will help produce peace and comfort in our lives despite the struggles around us.  Jesus wants us to take courage because we will never be alone.  Remember, the ultimate victory has already been won!

APPLY

Q: What does it mean that Jesus overcame the world?

Q: Do you feel alone with all your worries?  Who can bring you peace?

Q: Who do you need to remind that Jesus overcame the world, and we can have peace because of this?

PRAY

"And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one."

Father God, You overcame the world and this brings me peace.  Your victory is my victory too.  Thank you for never leaving me and for Your peace and joy.  Help me not have anxiety and to trust You in all things.
