Proverbs 18:24
24 A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

REFLECT
How many deep friendships do you have? Do you have someone you can call when you are in crisis? Is there someone who has access to the parts of your heart that you conceal from the rest of the world? These types of friendships are essential for spiritual and mental health, and yet so many people do not have them. The verse above is about the quality of a friendship. In essence, a person can have many “friends†and still come to ruin because the quality of those friendships may be superficial. If you could not call on your friends during a crisis, this suggests two possibilities: the relationship you offer them is insufficient to be called real friendship or the relationship they offer you is insufficient. Either way, consider seeking out closer and more intimate friendships.
