John 16:31-33
31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

REFLECT

This scripture tells us we WILL have trouble. When we reorient our lives on Christ’s work and words, then trouble arrives, and we won’t be shocked by it. We will have an anchor through it.  Having Christ as an anchor helps to bring us peace, even when trials and sorrows come our way.  We can trust in Jesus because He had overcome the world!

APPLY

Q: Why can we have peace even in the midst of trouble (see verse 33)?

Q: Are you experiencing peace when you have troubles?  If not, what would help you remember that Jesus overcame the world?  How about posting John 16:33 somewhere?

Q: How can you be a role model for others in times of trouble?  How do we display peace even in times of trouble?

PRAY

"Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy."

Jesus, thank you for overcoming the world and allowing me to have peace even in times of trouble and sorrow. You are my anchor! Help me trust you and know that you will protect me and help me endure the struggles of this life.
