PSALM 18:46-50

46 The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted! 47 He is the God  who pays back those who harm me; he subdues the nations under me 48 and rescues me from my enemies. You hold me safe beyond the reach of my enemies; you save me from violent opponents. 49 For this, O Lord, I will praise you among the nations; I will sing praises to your name. 50 You give great victories to your king; you show unfailing love to your anointed, to David and all his descendants forever.

REFLECT

Psalm 18 concludes with exultant praise. It’s a reminder that when God shows up and provides for his people in grand and beautiful ways, the most natural result is to praise him. It’s a reminder to praise him not just at church, but also “among the nations.” Translation: Praise him Every. Single. Place. You. Go.

Q: Why did David praise God?

Q: Who is our greatest enemy? How has God given us ultimate victory over this enemy?

Q: Have you been afraid to declare your faith in God to someone in your life? Ask God to open a door for a gospel conversation this week, and to give you the faith to walk through it.

PRAY

"Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

Lord, I am free forever from bondage to sin and its eternal wages - death has no hold over me if I am in Christ! Remind me as I pray through this section of the Lord’s prayer that I can boldly confess my sins to you because all of them, every last one of them, is forgiven in Christ. Let this true penetrate my soul and erupt from my mouth in praise. Amen.
