READ

PSALM 58:6-11

6 Break off their fangs, O God!

Smash the jaws of these lions, O Lord!

7 May they disappear like water into thirsty ground.

Make their weapons useless in their hands.

8 May they be like snails that dissolve into slime,

like a stillborn child who will never see the sun.

9God will sweep them away, both young and old,

faster than a pot heats over burning thorns.

10 The godly will rejoice when they see injustice avenged.

They will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.

11Then at last everyone will say,

“There truly is a reward for those who live for God;

surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”

GENESIS 1:27

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

REFLECT

You are the godly who should rejoice when injustice is avenged. However, we need to examine how injustice is being plotted and perpetuated by means of violence against the image of God. We need to face the facts of real-life issues and struggles and put those through the lens of faith where value, honor, and love reign.

When we look at a person, we need to see Jesus, and we need to fight for them the way that He would and not out of righteous authority or arrogant class, but out of humility that our God is on display in His creation.

APPLY

Q: How is the image of God created? Is that only after we become a Christian, or is it a result of life being created?

Q: Do you have biases or beliefs that prevent you from seeing anyone, fetus or human, as a creation designed to display its Creator? Ask God to seek your heart on this.

Q: When it comes to what our world says to choose sides on, do you look at others as enemies? In what ways does having enemies degrade the value of that person?

PRAY

"Give us today our daily bread."

Father, give us what we need today, provisionally and supernaturally. Not only the needs of life but also the needs of the spirit. Give us grace, wisdom, and understanding. Open our eyes to yours and allow us to know our needs for today through how you see the world. In your name, Amen.
