READ
COLOSSIANS 3:12-17
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
REFLECT
Family forgives. Though you’ll hit rough patches, arguments, and past hurts, we can only heal when we embrace life together as God’s people. Notice how Paul reminds us to “clothe ourselves” with these traits and to “let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” Loving and forgiving as a spiritual family takes intentionality and humility. It’s loving each other like Christ first loved us.
APPLY
Q: Reread the above passage: Which traits of spiritual family stand out to you?
Q: Which trait of spiritual family do you need to challenge yourself to be more like Christ?
Q: Who do you need to forgive or ask forgiveness from? How can you prayerfully initiate the healing process?
SING
“Fill this Place” by Red Rocks Worship
PRAY
May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Lord, your will is no more sadness, pain, injustice, or sin. I pray for your Kingdom to come in its fullness one day and in its fullest potential right now in my life and the lives of my spiritual family. Soften my heart to forgive and to receive forgiveness. Clothe me in your love and humility. Amen.
